About Jacki Archibald the Artist
Artist Bio
In my childhood years I was fortunate to inherit a creative spirit & encouragement with colour and design from my artistic mother which led me to pursue art & teaching studies.
My life experiences have taken various diverse art directions, with a preoccupation with fashion as well as interior and furniture design. My home and family life has strongly influenced me over time as well, allowing me to grow and develop a clearer awareness of my own personal place within the environment. Influences have also come from Australian artists like John Olsen, Aboriginal art and spontaneous discoveries I find in nature.
I'm very excited working more recently with the versatile and ancient Encaustic Wax as this underlying theme continues to develop with the interaction of painterly colour and form. It is unlike any other medium with a dynamic quality through numerous techniques and unique combinations of mixed media, expressing a sense of aesthetic unity in my artworks.
For some time now, connections with overseas artists and involvement with various local art groups, has allowed me to remain true to myself while providing a sense of belonging and identity.

Art provides a sense of identity for Jacki with spontaneous discoveries and colour explorations that bring an 'inner life' to her work. Recently she has revived the ancient Encaustic-Wax medium using a contemporary approach with various mixed media techniques on wood panels and paper. Encaustic painting uses pigments mixed with hot wax that are burned in as an inlay with a torch.
